Coverly, Inc. ("Coverly," "we," "us," or "our") provides software that helps merchants create, manage, and sell warranties and protection plans through their online stores. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect information when merchants install or use Coverly.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information we process in connection with the Coverly app, merchant accounts, and related services. It does not apply to Shopify, merchant storefronts, or third-party services that we do not control.
2. Information We Collect
We collect and process merchant and store information needed to provide the service. This may include:
- Shopify shop domain
- Shopify access credentials and related authentication data
- Store owner email address
- Store description
- Currency, locale, and time zone
- Subscription and billing status
- App settings and configuration data
We also collect and process store catalog and operational data needed to support warranty-plan functionality. This may include:
- Product, variant, and collection identifiers
- Product titles, images, status, vendor, and tags
To support warranty-related reporting and analytics, we also collect and process order transaction data, including:
- Order identifiers
- Order timestamps
- Line item identifiers
- Product and variant identifiers
- Quantities
- Prices
- Discounts
- Refunds
- Order totals
Coverly is designed to operate without storing direct customer personally identifiable information, such as customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, or payment card details, in its core application database.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Coverly. This includes authenticating merchants, syncing store data with Shopify, creating and managing warranty and protection plans, displaying warranty offers on product pages and in cart, supporting reporting and analytics, managing subscriptions and billing, providing support, and complying with legal and platform requirements.
4. AI Features
If a merchant enables AI-powered plan suggestions, we may send limited catalog and performance-related store data to AI service providers to generate suggested warranty plans and related images. This may include product titles, vendors, tags, collections, and variants. Which are all public information already.
We do not send customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, or payment card details for this feature.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information.
We may share information only as necessary to operate and support the service, including with:
- Shopify, to provide app functionality within the Shopify platform
- Hosting, infrastructure, and file-storage providers. Encrypted.
Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we do not disclose merchant data to third parties.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, disclosure, or alteration.
Sensitive merchant credentials, email addresses, including stored Shopify access tokens, are protected with strong encryption at rest. We also use HTTPS in production to protect data in transit.
Backups are also stored with strong encryption at rest and are deleted after 10 days.
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and support legitimate business operations.
When information is no longer needed, we may delete it, redact it, or retain it in de-identified or aggregated form where permitted by law.
8. Merchant Responsibilities and Customer Rights
Merchants are responsible for providing any required privacy notices to their customers and for complying with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
If you are a customer of a merchant that uses Coverly, that merchant controls your information and is the appropriate party to contact regarding access, correction, deletion, consent, or other privacy rights requests. We will assist merchants with applicable requests where required by law or platform obligations.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version and update the "Last updated" date above.
